Come out this Friday, 7/29/16, to meet the highly motivated and conscious group of youth from the MLK Freedom Center, who are in Kern County for a Civic Engagement Boot Camp and #GETLOUD Voter Registration Drive in partnership with the Dolores Huerta Foundation. This Friday they are excited to provide the community with a report back on the work they’ve done. You’re guaranteed to walk away from the event highly impressed by this extraordinary group of youth, energized and ready to bend the arc of the universe toward justice!

Social begins at 5:30 p.m.
Community report back at 6 p.m.

Every summer a group of high school and college students from the Odell Center in Washington and the MLK Freedom Center in Oakland, spend time in a targeted location to engage in non-partisan voter outreach and education while receiving daily instruction on civic engagement.

In July 2016, the group came to Kern County and participated in the Dolores Huerta Foundation’s #GETLOUD Voter Registration Drive, a county-wide effort focused on registering as many new voters as possible before the general election in November.
